Nicholaus Nelson-Goedert, Class of 2006, received the Summa Cum Laude (Gold Medal) award on the 2003 National Latin Exam. The exam is sponsored by the Classical League and its sister organization the National Junior Classical League. This year, over 127,000 middle and high school students worldwide took the exam. Nicholaus first explored Latin during middle school. He completed Latin I, offered through the Florida Virtual School, during the 2002-2003 school year as a BEAM freshman. He is currently enrolled in Latin II. These classes each count as one foreign language credit towards high school graduation requirements. Nicholaus plans to take the annual exam again this year. Only those students currently enrolled in Latin or Greek are eligible to sit for the national exams. Your instructor will inform you of the enrollment dates for your school for the 2004 exam. |
